It’s a job well done at Littleton Park, Gatton and Lions Park, Laidley, after Council contractors put the finishing touches on the revamp at the important community facilities.
Made possible thanks to funding from the State Government, Council’s Parks and Gardens Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said the works were completed on time after kicking off in March.
“Both facilities received a full replacement of the current playgrounds and now feature all Australian-made equipment, which is exactly what we were after.
“The playgrounds focus on fostering specific play that is vital for children, including their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional play opportunities for all ages and abilities.
“Both playgrounds also feature new equipment and shade sails, which will be perfect for our warmer climate and recognise the importance of sun and UV-safety.
“These upgrades are about making sure we can continue to offer modern, safe and accessible play facilities for years to come.
“We know construction can be a bit of a hassle, but we extend our thanks to the community for working with us while we completed these important upgrades,” Cr Wilson said.
Minister for Local Government and Water Ann Leahy said the funding demonstrates the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to improving liveability across regional communities.
“We promised Queenslanders better local facilities, and in partnership with Lockyer Valley Regional Council, we are delivering on that commitment for communities across Gatton, and Laidley,” Minister Leahy said.
“These new playgrounds will create safe, inclusive spaces for families to connect, stay active and enjoy their local communities for years to come.”
Member for Lockyer Jim McDonald said the new facilities are a strong result for local families.
“We said we would deliver better local facilities for families in the Lockyer Valley, and we’ve delivered with these fantastic new and upgraded community spaces now open,” Mr McDonald said.
“These parks give locals more opportunities to stay active, connect and enjoy safe, inclusive spaces that reflect the pride we have in our community.”
