Tell your story
Unlock or discover your inner writer through a new series of Creative Writing Workshops.
Titled Writing the Lockyer Valley, these creative writing workshops are perfect for everyone – whether you’re an experienced writer or just getting started.
Supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund, the community classes will be hosted by Dr Alex Philp from Griffith University.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said this was an opportunity for aspiring writers of all ages to develop their storytelling skills.
“The workshops will provide participants with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of creative writing in a supportive, friendly environment.
“Participants will develop one short piece from start to finish, inspired by the Lockyer Valley, gain important editing skills and learn what it takes to have your work published.
“These fun and supportive creative writing workshops will help you turn your ideas into a finished piece inspired by the region.
“Some participants will even have the chance to read their work at the upcoming Lockyer Valley Literary Salon!
"We all have a story to tell, and these workshops are a space for people to discover their voice and develop their writing skills.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re interested in fiction, memoir or poetry – these workshops are for you,” Cr Reck said.
