Highschoolers share their Perspectives at Lockyer Valley Art Gallery

The Lockyer Valley Art Gallery is now showing Perspectives: High Schools of the Lockyer Valley – an exhibition that showcases unique and meaningful works from secondary school students across the region.

Council’s Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said this exhibition brought together the creativity, talent and unique viewpoints of the Lockyer Valley's young people.

“This is one of our favourites on our exhibition calendar because it gives our local students and budding artists an opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional gallery environment.

“Growing up in this time is something only those experiencing it can relate to.

“Social media and digital pressures, mental health and wellbeing, climate change and cost of living pressures really make it a challenging time to be a teenager.

“This exhibition puts a spotlight on how our teens interpret the places, people, and politics they encounter.

“It’s always a keenly anticipated exhibition and is embraced by both the local community and visitors to our region.

“Showcasing a range of artworks across various mediums, Perspectives looks at what matters most to our young people today.

“Council is proud to support opportunities that encourage artistic development, foster confidence and strengthen connections between our schools and the wider community,” Cr Reck said.

Visitors are encouraged to experience the exhibition and gain a deeper understanding of the ideas and inspirations shaping the region's young artists.

Perspectives by High Schools of the Lockyer Valley runs until 11 October at the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery. The Gallery is located within the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre, 34 Lake Apex Drive, Gatton.
