Part of Jones Road, Withcott to be widened to improve road safety
A stretch of Jones Road, Withcott is set to be widened to improve road safety and usability.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council infrastructure crews are scheduled to begin work in early September on a 270-metre section of Jones Road between Glencoe Road and Gittins Road.
Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said Council was investing in practical upgrades to improve road safety for motorists.
"This upgrade will provide a safer, wider road for residents and visitors and forms part of Council’s ongoing commitment to improving our local road network,” he said.
“This section of Jones Road is particularly narrow, and to address this, Council will widen it and install new kerb and channel.
“Traffic controllers will be in place for the duration of the works, with line marking to follow.”
Works will occur between 7am and 4pm and are expected to take six weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The $280,000 project is being funded by Council with a $60,000 contribution from the developer.
