Lockyer Valley Libraries to offer fun these school holidays

Lockyer Valley Libraries’ school holiday program is now open for bookings, with many free activities for children of all ages to enjoy.
Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said creativity, learning and entertainment would be on offer throughout the two-week break.
“We’re pleased to again offer something for all ages and interests.
“From science activities to LEGO, after dark fun and even an orchestra, this program has been carefully put together by our Libraries team.
“Our Libraries staff spend so much time putting together a fun and exciting schedule, so come, see what’s on offer and make some wonderful memories these holidays,” Cr Reck said.
Activities to enjoy include:
LEGO/DUPLO Free Play
WHEN: Gatton Library, Wednesday 23 September at 10am; Laidley Library, Wednesday 30 September at 10am.
Use your imagination and see what you can create in our LEGO/DUPLO free play!
Scavenger Hunt
WHEN: Monday 21 September to Friday 2 October, Gatton and Laidley, all day.
Test your sleuthing skills! Go on a scavenger hunt and see if you can crack the code. This activity is self-guided, parental supervision is required. Bookings not required.
Seeds, Seeds and More Seeds
WHEN: Laidley Library, Wednesday 23 September at 11.30am; Gatton Library, Tuesday 29 September at 11.30am.
Come and discover the magic of gardening! Learn how tiny seeds can turn into yummy fruit and veggies and have a go at planting your very own seed to take home with Michael from Savour Soil Permaculture. Ages 5 – 12.

The Amazing Library Race (AFTER DARK)
WHEN: Gatton Library, Thursday 24 September from 5.30pm – 7.30pm.
COST: Pizza provided! $5 per child.
Put teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills to the test in The Amazing Library Race! Work your way through a series of challenges and activities as you race against other teams to reach the finish line. Ages 8 – 14.

Ellis and the Night Orchestra
WHEN: Gatton Library, Thursday 1 October at 9am; Laidley Library, Thursday 1 October at 11am.
Ellis and the Night Orchestra is a tiny opera for tiny people that blends live music, gentle storytelling and playful imagination into a high-quality theatre experience not to be missed. Ages 0 – 8.
Most school holiday activities are free. Some activities require a library membership. You can join online for free.
