Floodway renewal works to get underway in Laidley
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s crews will begin floodway renewal works on Drayton Street, Laidley next week.
Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor, Michael Hagan said the works would take around 11 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
“Works will include demolishing, removing existing structures and minor earthworks of the existing structure,” Cr Hagan said.
“This will be followed by the construction of a new culvert base slab, new aprons and the new floodway.
“Crews will also complete associated rock protection and the replacement of affected guideposts and road furniture.
“Finally, pavement reconstruction will be completed, as well as road resurfacing on both ends of the floodway.
“Floodway works are incredibly important and reinforce our Budget commitment to investing in the infrastructure our community relies on every day.
“They not only improve the resilience and reliability of Council’s road network by reducing flood-related damage, but once complete, will improve drainage and help maintain safer, more reliable access for the community during and following flood events.”
Works will be conducted between 7am and 5pm. A road closure at Drayton Street will be in place during the construction period. A detour route will be provided, and minimal traffic disruption is expected.
Weather and site conditions permitting, the project is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
