Council delivers donations to Share the Dignity Drive
The donated hygiene products from this year’s Share the Dignity Drive are now safely packaged up and delivered to the Salvation Army Lockyer Valley Corps.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s annual drive, all about supporting the charity’s mission to ensure all women and girls have access to basic hygiene necessities, wrapped up donations at the end of September.
Council’s Mayor, Tanya Milligan said the items would be distributed to women and girls in need throughout the community.
“Our staff, Councillors and members of the community once again generously supported this year’s Drive,” Mayor Milligan said.
“Items included everything from sanitary items and deodorants, to toothbrushes, toothpaste and soaps.
“The items will be made into care packages and donated to local women experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or experiencing challenges.
“Our hope is for all local women and girls to have access to the basic hygiene products they need and deserve.
“We are incredibly proud to be involved in this worthwhile and important cause and extend our thanks to everyone who has donated.
“Every donation will bring comfort to those in need.”
Salvation Army captain, BJ Moulder said the Salvation Army Lockyer Valley Corps were extremely grateful for all donations of sanitary and personal hygiene products.
“This will help us to provide dignity, care and practical support to women who are facing an ever-increasing cost of living,” Mr Moulder said.
“These simple and very necessary items make a very real difference to the women and girls we support in our community.”
