Council responds to road damage following rainfall
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is urging residents to report road damage as crews continue to assess and repair sections of the local road network affected by recent wet weather.
While the recent rain has been welcomed in many respects, it has also accelerated wear and tear on our roads, with potholes and pavement damage emerging in a number of locations across the region
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said Council crews were actively inspecting road conditions and would undertake repairs as soon as it was safe and practical to do so.
“As always, works will be prioritised based on safety, road condition and operational requirements,” Cr Hagan said.
“Our crews are out inspecting roads, assessing damage and carrying out repairs as quickly as possible; however, the scale of the network means it will take time to address every issue.”
Cr Hagan said community reports played an important role in helping Council identify areas requiring attention.
“The information provided by residents helps us build a clearer picture of network conditions and ensure repairs are prioritised where they are needed most,” he said.
“Our priority is maintaining safe access across the region, and we'll continue responding to damage as conditions allow.
“We thank the community for their understanding as we work through the necessary inspections and repair program to address rainfall-related damage across the region.
“The best thing drivers can do is drive to the conditions, obey road signage and never assume a road is in the same condition as it was before the rain event.”
Council reminds residents that several major roads within the region are managed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), including: the Warrego Highway, Gatton-Helidon Road, Toowoomba Connection Road and Murphys Creek Road.
Road issues on these routes should be reported directly to TMR on 13 19 40.
