Upgrades on Tenthill Creek Road now underway
Motorists travelling along Tenthill Creek Road, Gatton will benefit from a safer and more resilient road network, with Council beginning a significant program of improvement works.
Stage 1 is now underway, incorporating pavement rehabilitation and drainage improvements, as well as upgrades to the intersections at Prince and Osbornes roads.
The project will be progressively delivered in three stages, weather and resources permitting:
- Stage 1: Approx 8 weeks – started mid-October, finishing late December 2026
- Stage 2: Approx 9 weeks – starting January 2027 through to March 2027
- Stage 3: Approx 14 weeks – starting late March 2027 through to June 2027
Council’s Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said while minor wait times would be expected, the long-standing benefits for the community would be worthwhile.
“Once completed, the upgrade will deliver substantial benefits to the Lockyer Valley community by improving traffic capacity to accommodate current and future transport demands.
“It will also make for more reliable travel times along this important corridor.
“Upgraded intersections and improvements to road layouts will enhance safety by reducing the likelihood and severity of crashes.
“Drainage and hydraulic improvements will also increase flood resilience, helping maintain access during significant rainfall events and reducing ongoing maintenance requirements,” he said.
This project has been proudly funded by the Queensland Government through the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme, and Lockyer Valley Regional Council.
