Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
On behalf of everyone at Council, we wish you a safe and merry holiday season and a prosperous 2026! A reminder that Council offices, Libraries, Visitor Information Centre and the Queensland Transport Museum will close at 1pm Wednesday, 24 December, reopening Monday 5 January 2026.
Holiday bin services
Kerbside bin collections will operate as normal over the break, except for Christmas Day when bin services will begin an hour earlier at 5am. Collections will begin at the usual time of 6am on all other days, including New Year’s Day. To avoid missed services, Council recommends placing your bin out the night before.
All Council waste facilities will be closed on Christmas Day. For transfer station and Tip Shop opening hours, visit lockyervalley.qld.gov.au/waste
Gatton Admin Building roof repairs update
The hail damage roof repair project at the Gatton Administration Building has been extended until the end of January 2026, weather permitting, due to the contractor needing extra time to complete the insurance-funded project.
Customers can still find us at our temporary Gatton Customer Service Centre at 55 North Street, Gatton (opposite the Gatton Fire Station), where all the usual front counter services are available.

FREE School Holiday Fun
Bookings are now open for Lockyer Valley Libraries’ school holiday schedule, so make sure you check out what’s on offer and secure your place! Summer entertainment includes:

Drop-in and Play at Withcott Sports Centre
This January, Council will host a series of FREE drop-in and play events at the Withcott Sports Centre! Sports on offer include basketball, futsal, pickleball, netball and badminton. Head down to the facility on the dates below and join in on the fun!
Multi-Sport Daytime Drop-Ins: 12pm to 4pm
- Tuesday, 6, 13 and 20 January
- Thursday, 8, 15 and 22 January
Basketball Nights: 5.30pm to 8pm
- Monday, 5, 12 and 19 January
Entry is FREE, no bookings required. Children under 12 years must be supervised by an adult.
New Art Exhibit – Lockyer Valley Art Gallery
The Lockyer Valley Art Gallery is currently showcasing a striking new exhibition, Distomorph.
Distomorph can be viewed until 25 January 2026 (except during the Christmas closure period), and entry is free.
New water tanker filling stations
Urban Utilities has recently installed new water tanker filling stations at the locations below.
GRANTHAM - Railway Street, between Anzac Avenue and Morgan Road
GLENORE GROVE - Brightview Road, near the intersection of Gehrke Road
The stations provide a drinking water supply option for residents not connected to town water and whose on-property water supplies may run low. The previous tanker filling station on Brightview Road between Grove Street and Isador Street, Glenore Grove has been decommissioned and removed.
