New lease for Gatton Bowls Club
At the March Council meeting, Councillors gave the green light for a request from the Gatton Bowls Club to enter a new lease for part of their volleyball courts, which form part of the Club.
The Club put a request to Council to enter a new lease for a term of 10 years, and Councillors approved – yet another example of Council supporting key community groups.
Growers invited to lock in water future
The Lockyer Valley and Somerset Water Security Scheme will launch its next round of grower engagement on Thursday 9 April to confirm its foundation customers.

TMR calls for community feedback
Council is encouraging residents to provide feedback to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) on flooding and connectivity issues along specific parts of Gatton-Esk Road including Lockyer Creek Bridge.
TMR is currently investigating ways to improve the flood-prone area between Millers Road, Adare and the Warrego Highway at Gatton to prevent it from being cut off during major wet weather events.

Development in the region is alive and well!
From October 2025 – February 2026, Council received development applications for new warehouses and industrial uses totalling around 9500m2 gross floor area, distributed around the region, including in Gatton (4000m2), Helidon (3500m2) and Laidley (2000m2).
The demand for residential land also remains strong, with numerous operational works and plan sealing applications lodged. This includes operational works applications for more than 440 lots and plan sealing applications for more than 65 lots.

RADF applications open
If you’re interested in delivering arts and cultural projects in the Lockyer Valley - you can apply for funding to support your projects through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government and Lockyer Valley Regional Council.
This fund is designed to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland. Round 3 for 2025-26 is currently open for applications and closes 10am, Friday 24 April 2026.
