Festival of Cultures is on Sunday!

Charity EOIs open
Council is calling for expressions of interest for the next Queensland Transport Museum (QTM) charity recipient for 2026-27.
If you’re part of a military-focused charity, ex-service organisation or community group that supports veterans, current serving personnel and their families in the Lockyer Valley, this could be for you.
The successful organisation will receive funding generated through a portion of QTM ticket sales to deliver positive outcomes for serving and ex-serving defence members.

T-tape limits removed
The temporary limit on agriculture trickle tape (t-tape) has now been removed.
T-tape can continue to be recycled free of charge at the Gatton Waste Facility (Fords Road), noting:
- T-tape must be free from contamination including soil, vegetation and other waste materials
- Tightly rolled t-tape is preferred to maximise transport and stockpile efficiency
- Contaminated loads will be classified as general waste and directed to landfill (disposal fees apply)
Farmers wishing to dispose of large loads are encouraged to contact Council’s t-tape recycler, Australia Sunlight Group directly on 0411 359 919 to arrange an on-site collection.
Council thanks the local farming community for helping divert valuable materials from landfill and contributing to more sustainable farming practices across the Lockyer Valley.

Join our Community Representative Group
Council is seeking expressions of interest from community members to join its Community Representative Group to support the refresh of the ‘Lockyer – Our Valley, Our Vision Community Plan’.
As the region’s long-term, community-owned strategic document, this plan reflects the values, priorities and aspirations of the community, while providing a strategic foundation for Council’s Corporate Plan and decision-making.
We’re looking for people who:
- live in and have a strong connection to the region
- are interested in the long-term future of the community (10-20 years)
- are willing to consider a range of perspectives
- can participate constructively in facilitated discussions
Members will participate in six, two-hour sessions over a 12-week period between September and November 2026 and will be expected to review materials between meetings.
