Community benefit from more than $125k in 24/25 financial year

The region’s community groups and individuals scored more than $125,000 in the 2024-2025 financial year through Council’s Community Grants Program.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan, said the funds were a vital cash injection to these organisations, all of which carried out important community work.

“These dedicated individuals and groups are committed to fostering the region’s sense of community and without their important work, these essential services and programs would not be possible.

“It’s incredibly fulfilling to see these funds be distributed to where they’re needed most.

“These programs are a fantastic opportunity for local organisations to secure funding for projects and events that make a real difference in our community,” Mayor Milligan said.

This included:

• Major Community Grants awarded $70,000 to 29 not-for-profit community organisations to assist them to undertake projects, activities or events that benefit the wider community.
• Fourteen Minor Community Grants, totalling $7500 awarded to not-for-profit community organisations to facilitate projects including a multicultural open day celebration, sensory friendly space start-up kits and community group milestone anniversary events.
• Community Environmental Grants Program awarded $17,497 to four recipients.
• Ten recipients received $20,905 through the Regional Arts Development Fund.
• Support to 44 local individuals who excel in sporting, academic and cultural pursuits, through Council’s Ambassador Support Program.
• Sports for All – $10,000 awarded to eight recipients.

“In addition, Council commits funding support to a range of community-led groups, facilities and activities on an annual basis such as Gatton and Laidley Shows, Gatton Campdraft, NAIDOC Week and Seniors Month,” Mayor Milligan said.
