Applications Open for Council's Major Community Grants Program

Lockyer Valley Regional Council has opened the doors to its Major Community Grants program and is inviting eligible community organisations to apply for the funding.

Council’s community grants are designed to give eligible groups and organisations financial assistance for projects, initiatives and infrastructure that deliver long-term benefits to communities across the region.

Council’s Mayor Tanya Milligan said the Major Community Grants program demonstrated Council’s commitment to supporting vibrant, connected and resilient communities.

"Our community groups are so important – they bring people together, help deliver important services to our residents and overall, make the Lockyer Valley an incredible place to live.

"Our community grants program helps organisations turn great ideas into reality.

“Many of these projects will have a positive impact for years to come and we’re encouraging eligible organisations to apply for funding to deliver projects that will create a lasting impact across the region.”

Earlier this year, Council awarded funding to 11 applicants, including:

• Back to the Bush Koalas Ltd.

• Gatton Swimming Club Inc.

• Hatton Vale & District Pony Club Inc.

• Laidley District Cricket Club

• Laidley Garden Club Inc.

• Laidley Golf Club Inc.

• Laidley Recreation Reserve Sports Association Inc.

• Lockyer Valley Fish Restocking Association Inc.

• Promising Paws Inc.

• Ropehill Community Sports Centre Inc.

• Withcott Football Club Inc.

Hatton Vale & District Pony Club Inc. Treasurer, Noela Kilminster said the Club was grateful to receive a Council grant earlier this year.

“The grant, in conjunction with other fundraising efforts, enabled us to purchase an equipment trailer modified to allow us to move heavy jumps, jump poles, barrels and other essential equipment around our grounds.

“Club members and volunteers appreciate the time and effort this has saved at each muster,” she said.

Claus Hennes from the Gatton Swimming Club said the organisation was appreciative to Council for its support.

“Recently our Club was fortunate to receive a major Council grant, which enabled us to purchase new heavy duty shade marquees.

“These marquees will allow us to keep our swimmers and volunteers comfortable and out of the sun for many seasons to come,” he said.
