Youth Week - April 2024
The Lockyer Valley Youth Week is a multi-day event that celebrates young people in the region, links young people to local service providers, provides information regarding support available, and keeps attendees entertained with a variety of activities. The events are primarily aimed at young people aged 12-17 years.

Council Events
Movie Night - Monday, 8 April
Location: Gatton Shire Hall, 52 North Street, Gatton
Time: Movie to commence at 6pm
Hosted By: Lockyer Valley Regional Council
Activities: Movie screening - Wonka
Recommended Age: Wonka is a PG-rated movie.
Cost: Free
Beneath the Streets - Tuesday, 9 April
Location: Laidley Library, 9 Spicer Street, Laidley
Time: 1.30pm - 2.30pm

Activities:
- Science show led by Urban Utilities
Recommended Age:
- This event is suitable for primary and high-school ages.
Registrations required via Lockyer Libraries.
Youth Expo - Wednesday, 10 April
Location: Ferrari Park, Patrick Street, Laidley
Time: 10am - 2pm
Cost: Free
Activities:
- Mobile games trailer & virtual reality experience
- Laser tag
- Inflatable games
- Face painter
- Youth service provider stalls
- Lunch supplied
- Coffee van (at a cost)
Recommended Age:
- This event is primarily intended for young people aged 12-17 years. Young people outside this age range may not be able to participate in all activities.
Activity-specific restrictions
- Children younger than 6 years must be accompanied by a supervising adult in the mobile games trailer. For children 6 years of age and older, parents may be present inside or just outside of the trailer.
- Laser tag is restricted to ages 8 and over.
- Recommended age for inflatable games is 8 years and over.
Beneath the Streets - Thursday, 11 April
Location: Gatton Library, 34 Lake Apex Drive, Gatton
Time: 1.30pm - 2.30pm

Skateboarding Jam Session - Friday, 12 April
Location: Gatton Skate Park, Western Drive, Gatton
Time: Jam session commences at 12pm
Hosted By: Lockyer Valley Regional Council
Cost: Free
Activities:
- Facilitated skateboarding session
- Lunch supplied
Recommended Age:
- This event is aimed at young people aged 12-17 years.
- Participation is restricted to ages 4 and over.
- Participants are required to bring along their own helmet and skateboard.
- The event is a non-structured jam session and is also open to scooter, BMX and Roller.
Registrations required via All Aboard | YMCA Action Sports or at the event.
Rewilding the Urban Jungle - Saturday, 13 April
Location: Lockyer Valley Art Gallery, 34 Lake Apex Drive, Gatton
Time: 9.30am - 11.30am

- Collage workshop led by award-winning artist, Bianca Tainish
Recommended Age:
- This event is suitable for 6-16 year olds.
Registrations required as well as a $5 fee via Lockyer Libraries.
