Join us for an action-packed day of fun, learning and hands-on experiences at the Get Ready Lockyer Day! Meet our real-life heroes from emergency services and local agencies who help our community be prepared and safe. Discover what hazards can affect you in the Lockyer Valley and learn simple, practical ways you and your family can prepare, stay safe, and bounce back stronger. With interactive activities, exciting challenges and plenty of prizes to be won, it's a day you won't want to miss!

Get Ready Preparedness Trail Prizes
- Major Prize - 4.5kW digital inverter generator

Birdies Tree Colouring Competition Prizes
- Category winners will receive a Birdie's Tree mini book set, Birdie plush toy and Mr Frog plush toy.
- Schools of the category winners will receive a set of full-size Birdie's Tree books for their library.
Resilience Challenge Prizes
- Members of the winning teams will receive an Emergency Kit backpack including a first aid kit, wind-up torch-radio, powerbank and a $50 gift voucher.

- Talk with emergency services and follow the 'Preparedness Trail' to build your disaster-ready skills and win prizes (see terms and conditions)
- Learn about the new AusAlert warning system
- Step onto the Big Map and explore local risks in a unique way
- Take part in a cooking demonstration and sample dishes made from emergency kit supplies
- Chat with the Bureau of Meteorology to understand forecasts and natural hazards
- Visit the petting zoo and help the kids learn about preparing animals for emergencies
- Explore a display of past Lockyer Valley disaster events
- Watch sandbagging demonstrations
- Take on the giant inflatable obstacle course
- Find out how to deal with injured and displaced wildlife
- Pick up useful items and ideas for your emergency kit

Birdies Tree Colouring Competition
Get ready to colour, create, and let your imagination run wild! Birdie’s Tree Colouring Competition is the perfect chance for Lockyer Valley kids aged 9 and under to show off their creativity. Simply download a colouring sheet or pick one up from your school, add your brightest colours and biggest ideas, then submit your masterpiece through your school or directly to Council.
Not only is it fun to take part, but there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs! Winners in each age category will receive a bundle of Birdie goodies—including mini storybooks and plush toys—and their school will win a full set of Birdie’s Tree books too. Entries close at 4:00pm on Friday 24 July 2026, so don’t miss out (see the Terms and Conditions). Start colouring, get creative, and you could be one of our lucky winners announced at Get Ready Lockyer Day—let’s see your masterpiece!
Take on the Resilience Challenge!
Calling all schools, community and sporting groups! We are looking for teams across two age categories (12-14yrs and 15-17yrs) to take on the Resilience Challenge at this year's Get Ready Event.
If you're ready to test your skills with a fire hose, take on the giant inflatable obstacle course or tackle other challenges, nominate now!
No athletic ability needed—just enthusiasm and teamwork! Top teams will go head-to-head in the grand finale with emergency services. Complete your nomination form now! (see Terms and Conditions). Nominations close on Friday 24 July.
