Mayoral Christmas Carols

Saturday, 25 November 2023 | 5.30pm - 8pm | Gatton Shire Hall, North Street, Gatton

The annual Mayoral Carols are back!

Get ready for an evening of community celebration and sing-a-longs to your favourite carols. The much-loved Nathan Walmsley Band is returning and bringing the Christmas spirit from 5.30pm-8pm.

The Lions Club of Gatton and Salvation Army will be there and ready with a charity BBQ and fresh donut stall.

Entertainment starts at 6.30pm and is a night for the whole family to enjoy.

Book a free admission ticket for everyone so no one misses out!

Lockyer Valley Christmas Carnival

Friday, 15 December 2023 | 5.30pm - 9pm | North Street, Gatton

The family-friendly event that brings the community together to celebrate Christmas!

It’s time to catch up with your neighbours, support community food stalls, check out the Emergency Services display and let the kids break free and enjoy an evening with friends.

Activities include:

  • Free Santa family photos
  • Meet Santa’s reindeer
  • Christmas at Bunyip Stage Show
  • Free inflatable games zone
  • Outdoor obstacle course
  • Twilight market and food stalls
  • Glitter face painting
  • Ham wheel

Christmas Competitions

Get in the festival spirit this season by taking part in any of the below competitions.

Winners will be announced at the Lockyer Valley Christmas Carnival.

Grab your pens, pencils, paints, markers or crayons for your chance to win a $50 Lockyer Valley gift card.

One gift card will be awarded to the winner in each of the following age groups:

  • 3-6 years
  • 7-9 years
  • 10-12 years

Download your colouring-in sheet here and hand-in to either of the following locations:

  • The Lockyer & Somerset Independent, North Street, Gatton
  • Gatton Administration Building: 26 Railway St, Gatton
  • Laidley Customer Service: 9 Spicer St, Laidley
  • Lockyer Valley Visitor Information Centre

Entries close at 5pm on Thursday, 7 December 2023.

Competition is for 12 year and under.

An ode to the well groomed gentleman of the Lockyer Valley.

Come one, come all and show off your luxuriously styled and decorated facial hair to be crowned the Valley's Best Groomed Man! Entries will be judged on the following are four categories:

  • Softest beard
  • Longest beard
  • Thickest beard
  • Best presented beard

The winner will receive a special prize befitting of a well-groomed man!

Celebrate the magic of Christmas by writing to Santa and receiving a response.

Santa is using the Gatton and Laidley Libraries as a collection point for his letters. If you drop them into his special mailboxes by 13 December, either Santa or Mrs Claus will respond.

Any letters dropped off after this time will be sent to Santa but he won't have time to respond, he's told us he's busy packing his sleigh.

You can write your own letter or print the templates provided - please remember to include your name and address if you want a response.
